Free Clinics (Pro Bono Work)
At HCG Consulting, we believe that access to high-quality health IT should not be limited by financial constraints. We are proud to provide pro bono consulting and development services to nonprofit, student-run, and community-based free clinics.
Projects and Collaborations
Mobile Migrant Health Team (MMHT) at UIC School of Medicine
- Collaborated with UIC’s MMHT to build and deploy OpenMRS, a free and open-source electronic medical record system, for use at Clinica Nueva Raíces
- Enabled the transition from paper-based workflows to digital EMRs, improving clinical efficiency and recordkeeping
- Provided technical training and support to ensure long-term sustainability
Northwestern University Student-Run Clinics
- Partnered with student volunteers from Northwestern Feinberg School of Medicine to digitize clinic operations across multiple free clinic sites
- Deployed a shared OpenMRS EMR system across partner sites including Fourth Presbyterian Church, Catholic Charities, and First Saint Paul’s Lutheran Church
- Improved coordination of care across multiple sites serving Chicago's underserved communities
NU Mutual Aid Partnership
- NU Mutual Aid is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit mutual aid organization with chapters at Northeastern University in Boston and Northwestern University in Chicago
- HCG Consulting hosts NU Mutual Aid’s website (numutualaid.org) and OpenMRS EMR system used by affiliated clinics and pop-up care events
- Helps disseminate volunteer opportunities and strengthen data continuity across mutual aid and student-run health efforts
- What was once zero continuity of care between sites is now a growing network of coordinated clinics with shared patient records
